  • We are excited to recruit rotation students starting in Spring 2025! If you are an incoming or current Ph.D. student at Mount Sinai in the Neuroscience or Biomedical Sciences graduate program, please reach out to us to discuss our mutual scientific interests!

Prospective students interested in pursuing doctoral training at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai should seek more information on application materials and deadlines from Mount Sinai’s Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.

To Inquiry about rotations: Please send a brief description of your research experience, and CV to Dr. Victor.

  • If you have financial support from your home institution or home country and are interested in joining the Victor Lab for part of your scientific training, we would love to host you in New York! Our science takes time, and often cultures need to mature for extended periods, therefore we prefer commitments of at least 1 year. Contact us to discuss your goals and how we can help you achieve them!

To Apply: Please send a brief description of the level of financial support from your home institution, your research experience, goals, CV and contact information for 2-3 references to Dr. Victor.

  • Our work with Alzheimer’s disease mouse models, patient-derived iPSCs and brain organoids is highly translational, and a postdoctoral experience in our lab would open many doors for jobs in industry! We are particularly interested in recruiting recent or soon-to-be Ph.D. graduates with strong quantitative backgrounds and experience in systems neuroscience. This could be a great match for someone looking to broaden their expertise and break into the field of disease modeling in the hope of landing a great job in biotech and pharma.

Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent in neuroscience, immunology or related disciplines, strong skillset in one or more of the following areas: Broad technical experience in cell culture (expertise in human pluripotent stem cell culture and differentiation), molecular biology (prior experience in CRISPR-based genome editing and screening), synaptic biology (e.g. electrophysiology and related optical approaches), or behavioral neuroscience (e.g. in vivo optogenetics/calcium imaging).

We specially encourage applications of candidates from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Job descriptions:

I was the very first graduate student to officially join the lab of my Ph.D. advisor. My career and his success were tightly intertwined. I would have to thrive as a doctoral student in order for him to succeed as a pre-tenure professor. We tackled scientific problems as a team, commiserating together at the fails and celebrating twice as much at the hard-fought wins. As a result, we both soared professionally.

I promise that as your mentor, I will always see your success as my own — even far down the road after you leave my lab. I promise to encourage and support your professional development and career aspirations, and to never lose sight that your time with us is only a stepping stone for bigger and better things as you move up in your own career path!

My Promise to you as a mentor
